The EuGMS SIG on Cardiovascular Medicine is glad to invite you to the OPEN online webinar on July 9th, 15:00-16:00 (CEST)

The agenda of the upcoming meeting is as follows:

Moderators: Andrea Ungar and Jerzy Gąsowski

SPEAKER 1: Stefano Fumagalli
TITLE 1: "Atrial fibrillation from guidelines to frailty "
BIO 1: Stefano Fumagalli is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine – Geriatrics, University of Florence, Italy with special interest in: 1) epidemiology of the arrhythmia and its association with other comorbid conditions; 2) the optimization of medical therapy at advanced age; 3) the specific effects of rate- and rhythm-control strategies in elderly individuals, focusing on prevention of disability and frailty, and improvement of health-related quality of life; 4) atrial fibrillation as a marker of a frail condition. He is principal Investigator for the Geriatric Intensive Care Unit of the University of Florence involved in several international studies.

SPEAKER 2: Francesco Mattace-Raso
TITLE 2: Anticoagulants in all older adults?
BIO 2: Francesco Mattace-Raso is Professor of Geriatrics at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, He chairs the division of Geriatric Medicine and is Principal Investigator of the Vascular Aging Science Center Erasmus MC. Main research interest is to investigate the causes and consequences of age- related cardiometabolic changes: a model of aging which allows to investigate the complex biological process of senescence and the possible consequences on individual vitality. In this field, Francesco Mattace Raso has an international leading role, author of milestone studies and coauthors of guidelines and expert papers.

SPEAKER 3: Andrea Ungar
TITLE 3: : Anticoagulants and falls in the elderly
BIO 3: Andrea Ungar is Full Professor of Internal Medicine - Geriatrics at the University of Florence. Andrea Ungar is expert in Geriatric Medicine, Cardiovascular disease in the elderly, particularly Hypertension, Syncope, Falls, Ageism and Valvular Heart Diseases He is involved in Italian and European Societies of Geriatrics and Cardiology. Since 2004 he is a Member of the task force of European Society of Cardiology for the guidelines on Syncope (version 2004-2009-2018). He is the past-President of Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics and Coordinator of Charta of Florence against ageism.
